About the Role:

The school canteen is self-managed, to provide high quality lunches and snacks, with any profit being put back into the school. This position would report to the school Bursar via the Canteen Manager and work alongside the team of canteen assistants.

 

The Canteen Assistant assists in the day-to-day operations of the canteen and will perform a range of tasks in relation to its operation, including:

·        the preparation of hot and cold food and snacks

·        putting together lunch orders

·        over the counter cash register sales with students during break times

·        stock control and monitoring

·        cleaning

·        working alongside volunteers who help in the canteen

·        supporting the Canteen Manager

 

Applications should include the following criteria:

·        Demonstrated experience in food service

·        Demonstrated understanding of food hygiene standards and the ability to manage issues relating to food intolerances

·        Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment

·        Demonstrated desire to be a positive contributor to the Canteen team and work collaboratively with the Canteen Manager

·        Ability to helpfully work with students and staff within a community setting with excellent communication skills

·        Working With Children Check clearance for paid employment

·        Covid-19 Vaccination clearance

 

Hours of work

The canteen operates with three service periods (recess, lunch and after school). The canteen also provides catering for school functions and events. Hours of work would be approximately 8.30am to 3.30pm  term time only. Some additional hours may be required during school holidays or after hours and this would be negotiated by mutual agreement.

Salary rates will reflect the experience of the successful candidates/s, in line with Independent Schools NSW (Support and Operational Staff) Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2021.
